Tomáš Sieger is a researcher at the Dept. of Cybernetics at the FEE, CTU and the Dept. of Neurology and Center of Clinical Neuroscience at the Charles University in Prague. He studied computer science at the Charles University in Prague and (bio)statistics at the Charles University and the University of Hasselt, Belgium. He received his PhD from FEE, CTU in 2014. Focused on biomedical data analysis and modeling, he works primarily to understand the functioning of the human brain. He also builds models of flow-cytometry data and develops software for data analysis (he wrote idendro, an interactive dendrogram exploration tool, and contributed to ggplot2, a popular R data visualization package). Eduard Bakstein is a researcher at the compNeuroGroup, Dept. of Cybernetics at the FEE, CTU and the National Institute of Mental Health. He studied cybernetics and biomedical engineering at FEE CTU, where he also defended his PhD in 03/2017.

He is currently working on the problem of nuclei identification and atlas fitting to the microelectrode EEG and artifact/change-point detection in microelectrode EEG and other time-series data. He is the author of the sigInspect (GitHub) toolbox for automatic artifact detection. His other research interests include other machine learning, signal processing and data analysis problems.

He teaches courses on Computational neuroscience and Biometric identification, previously also Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis.

Tomás Lima is a MSc. student from University of Minho in Portugal. Showing high interest on brain, health and performance research, he is eager to apply Artificial Intelligence into biomedical data, in order to contribute for an healthier world. During his Bachelor studies, he has worked on BCI tools for elderly people fall-detection and prevention. He is now concluding his Biomedical Engineering programme working on the automatic segmentation of the STN in high-field MRI for the DBS planning of Parkinson’s disease patients.

Cheng Kang is a Ph.D. student in the field of Computational Neuroscience and Intelligence. He has focused mainly on the area of Translational Neuroscience since 2013, trying to bring basic findings in neuroscience into daily life applications. There are two major problems: Natural Cognition and Brain-Computer Interface (BCI). Natural cognition studies the brain and its behavior at work. One major research problem is the study of brain dynamics of alertness, drowsiness, emotional sickness, distraction, etc. For real-world applications of BCI, we have designed wearable and wireless devices for measuring brain waves (EEG signals) and developed algorithms for brain waves analysis, especially for mental disease detection.

Carmen-Anna Konicarová is a PhD student at the AID Group. She graduated from Medical Electronics and Bioinformatics at the FEE, CTU. Her master’s thesis focused on multidimensional methods of identification of clinical episodes from actigraphy in bipolar affective disorder. Currently, she is working on the problem of multivariate data aggregation in neuroscience.

Apostolos Mikroulis holds a Ph.D. in the field of neuroscience, from the Department of Biological Applications and Technology at the University of Ioannina (Greece), since 2017. He has since worked at Lund University as a postdoctoral electrophysiologist for the Experimental Epilepsy Group, and as a research engineer for in vitro electrophysiology, imaging and data analysis.

Pavel Filip is a senior neurologist specialized in movement disorders at the General University Hospital in Prague, and a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Center for Magnetic Resonance Research in the USA. His expertise includes using advanced therapies such as deep brain stimulation (DBS), botulinum toxin treatments, and intrathecal baclofen pumps. Additionally, he has developed new MRI methods to assess microstructural damage and has worked on orientation selective deep brain and spinal cord stimulation paradigms. Pavel also engages in freelance translation focused on medical documents and has an extensive background in clinical research.
